Life Lessons by Master- Gurupournima Special

Teaching Life Lessons by Master- A Martial artist, spiritual educator, Martial Arts Guru

Also like a Grandfather I never had.
Snippet from my diary:
22nd July, 2024- On the day of Gurupournima.

Whenever master has a dialogue with someone, he tells them some pieces and these phrases from the interaction with him stays with them forever. I got mine once when master called me after I had anchored on the annual day and he said to me " chahe kuch bhi ho jaye, rukna mat...aage badhte rehna". (No matter what happens, don't stop; keep on moving on).
1) "Tum apna kaam karte raho, lene wale apneyap ayenge" (you keep doing your work, whoever wants to take benefit will come on their own). This was told to Master by his Guru.
2) " Do meditation, be stable."
3) "Be flexible."

And then there are some beautiful analogies by Master:
1) When in a storm there is a big strong tree and a light tender grass.....the grass wins. The strong tree, because it is so firm, resists, and so it falls. But the tender grass is flexible. It moves as the wind makes it move and so nothing happens to it!
2) Same variety of tree, planted artificially by us and the other is by nature. The tree planted by us may get uprooted but the one planted by nature will not. Same way, your true nature and your passion will never change no matter what. That is why Be Yourself. This was in context of one of his advocates.

His advocates:
1) Respect yourself. These two legs and hands are enough to get you by. Respect yourself first only then life will respect you, people will follow.
2) Don't betray yourself .If you are a thief, but show yourself to be a saint; a dancer but show yourself as a nerd (so on) ; don't do that. Whoever you are, you are. Be Yourself.

Some beautiful words that Teacher Monica shared:( Here she is talking about Master from whom we have learnt about life and Martial Arts, but it truly applies to the qualities of a Guru)
1) Master( or a Guru) is like a rainbow. You should see him as a whole. If you try to dissect the colours and see them separately; the entire purpose is gone.
2) Being too close to his company and too far away from him; both serve no purpose and are dangerous- therefore, you have to create your space and be at the right amount of distance from him.
3) His colours come out when we come to him. The more in numbers we come, the more he will speak with each of us, and what can come out through his words will benefit all of us. So, we should be present and be together. We should come in large numbers. To witness his colours( and it's true, the more the people, the more there is energy in the air to make a one big universe rich in talks and perspectives on new points- a mehfil as they call it in urdu)

Some words of insight from Teacher Chinmay:
1) Be present, in whatever you do.
2) Be flexible. ( how many times did I mention that! It's really important!)

Oh yes, by the way, the best is yet to come, by Master:
1) When you get choice between two gifts: A 100 rupee note and a 500 rupee note; obviously you would go for the 500.
Similarly there is always a bad choice and a good choice. Example, taking drugs to get high or doing meditation, which by the way, activates the same parts of your brain and releases dopamine, the happy hormone. (Master said a funny sarcasm on this one: People who say I just want to try drugs once,"have a drag".....why don't you also try eating your poop?!) The sweet fruits of the good choice always come in future. Remember, everything counts.
2) You should always choose good and be righteous, in every step( or as much as you can...that were his words in reality)
What I heard was "stretch yourself to your maximum potential", after which there is even more! But this is something which is worth being ambitious about and pursue!
Being righteous as our moral is the best gift we can give to us and our world....and that's what Master is upto. He is planning to build an ashram now in Ratnagiri, which is already in works for like minded people to come and visit or stay there full time and run it, experience how to live a peaceful and balanced life with meaning and run it fulltime for those who decide to dedicate themselves to this way of living life and stay there! For more information, you will have to contact or visit them personally. You can also go their instagram page "moxshlife" and check out what they do, their services etc there.

Anyway, enough of advertising(but it is something that is good for you, or even if you liked these snippets from my blog and truly apply them in your life, it will benefit you). I am greatful I got a Guru like Master, who has guided me and so many of us through our own unique and different life journeys.
Just before this day, I had gone to a trek and I felt inclined to apply this terminology here: " Just like you need a good guide for a difficult trek, you need a Guru who is a guide for life. And life is one hard terrain to cover, mind you!

Happy (belated) Gurupournima!
Priya.
